Neutrino Day 2010 — “a science adventure”

If you are in the Lead area on Saturday, July 10, don’t miss this free science festival. Fascinating adult and kids’ activities will be held at the Sanford Underground Science and Engineering Lab at Homestake.  For the schedule and detailed information go to: sanfordlabathomestake.org.  This is a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about South Dakota’s potential Deep Underground Science and Engineering Lab…and actually learn what a neutrino is.

Happy 100th birthday! Were you there? Have you ever been there?

It was a beautiful day Saturday, June 19 as South Dakotans from across the State joined in the celebration and re-dedication of the state Capitol, originally completed in 1910.  I visited with an older gentleman, born and raised in South Dakota, who was making his first trip to the Capitol.  It made me wonder what percent of South Dakotans have ever been to the Capitol.  I know the celebrations honoring WWII, Korean, and Vietnam veterans have drawn many in recent years.  But if you haven’t been there, put it on your “bucket list.”  It is a magnificent building, a source of great pride over many generations.   And then drive a few blocks to the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center. You won’t be disappointed with either of these experiences in South Dakota’s history.
